Time for a blog talking, a bit in detail, about my experience with Maker Gen during my 2 years under contract with their network and why I don't recommend anyone signing with them.

I joined their network around late-October of 2012, 3 months after I opened my channel, from a recommendation from a friend of mine known as DotComVids. I applied and got accepted, which some people might remember from my former vlogs that I did early on in my channel's early days. Yes, I was excited to be with a network instead of being on Adsense. I almost got in trouble for messing up my bank information that I had to submit on my tax forms in order to be paid by them. Things were fine at first, but they didn't stay that way.

The network has a threshold for earnings (at the time) of $50. That means if your total combined monthly earnings didn't total or exceed their $50 rule, you didn't get paid until you do so. So if I earned $8 in January, $13 in February, and $12 in March, that's a total $33. That means I wouldn't get paid until that total amount is $50 or more, which is how it took me over A YEAR to get my first paycheck with their network rules. A channel my size doesn't earn money that easily, especially with their 60-40 ad revenue split (I get 60% of my earnings and they get 40%).

They DID give me access to Royalty Free Music from AudioMicro, which helped for certain videos and my intro videos. Their support staff didn't help much. When I was unsure about monetizing gameplay videos and asked how I'd do so, they didn't give me a proper answer. They never really did anything to promote my channel to get me more views or subscribers, so it shows that end of the deal. The only thing they did was confirm my suspicions about the view count glitch, so thanks to them for that.

When I requested my release from my contract 1-2 months prior to being done with them, they offered me a 70-30 ad revenue split if I stayed with them, which I agreed to and nothing came of it (despite the support staff representative saying "I'm having our staff write together the new contract deal"). By the time October 29, 2014 hit, I was suddenly out of their network without warning. Either my contract was up or they stuck with me wanting out, despite changing my mind. I didn't get any heads up notice about the deal being up, even though the contract says that it would auto-renew every year if I didn't fully go through the process of wanting out.

The network, honestly, is full of nothing but false promises. They didn't do a thing to help my channel grow, pay wasn't worth it, nothing stood out of their exclusive features outside of the music access, it just isn't worth it.

Now, I'm partnered with Freedom on my main channel and have been partnered with my LetZPlay channel for a few months, which is a better network. More freedoms with contract and ability to increase ad revenue earnings, music access, sponsorship opportunities, positive atmosphere from the owner George, and other stuff as well.

Don't trust Maker Gen folks, they're not worth it.
